Shrimp City Slim: News

LaMont Garner (drums) - September 22, 2009

The SCS band has existed in the Charleston area since 1985; we've had lots of personnel changes down through the years. In case you haven't seen LaMont Garner on drums with us lately, it is because he scored a gig playing six weeks with an R&B band in...(hold on)...Addis Ababa, Ethiopia @ the Sheraton Hotel. We just heard from him and he is safe & sound. An amazing experience! and couldn't happen to a nicer guy. His myspace page is (which he will probably update with progress reports from Addis). Wow!
"Rockin' Adam" Parrott has signed on as our semi-fulltime drummer with substitutions by John "Turbo" Etheridge and Jerome Griffin.

Some new gear - May 2, 2009

Trying the Yamaha P-85 digital piano. The used Roland FP that I bought used in late 2007 ($250 - paid for it on the first gig) (the piano, elec piano, and organ voices heard on Wanda Johnson's "Hold What You Got") is broken down and, due to limited tech services in this one-horse town, probably never to return - been eight weeks in a guy's shop). So better to move on. First performance on the Yamaha will be Pawleys Island tomorrow night with Drink Small or Mad River this Wed. Let me know what you think when you hear it. Gracias. FYI - still a Korg fan...using the Triton with bass/piano split for many of the band gigs.
